Confused dot com!

Ok, so here's the scenario so far.

1. Emmanuel Eboue hits Wayne Bridge.

2. Emmanuel Adebayor gets sent off. Everyone assumes it was mistaken identity.

3. Emmanuel Adebayor does not have his red card rescinded. The FA and Arsenal point out that his appeal was NOT on the grounds of mistaken identity. Confused dot com Jenni #1.

4. Arsene Wenger is quoted as saying that the assistant referee's report was "lies", because it contained a reference to Emmanuel Adebayor punching Frank Lampard.

5. Frank Lampard's agent announces that Frank has confirmed to him that he was not punched.

6. The FA deny that the assistant referee's report said that Emmanuel Adebayor struck Frank Lampard. It allegedly says that he tried to. Confused dot com Jenni #2!

7.

I theorise that I should park a dimensionally transcendental time machine on Roman Abramovich's head.

So what IS going on? Is this FA incompetence, media sensationalism, or, most likely, both? It's already clear that they have reported a) Wenger's comments, and b) Terry's brain scan, in a sensational way.

I just wish they'd exonerate Ade and leave it there. I've seen the footage on Sky Sports News: he was clearly, to my mind (although the footage was from behind and NOT clear), trying to break Cesc and Lampard up.

Also, Dave will be forced to stop killing people with "RO" in their names after the aforementioned Earl of Brockovich, as killing Rosalind Thompson will subject him to being bombarded with football conversation for life.

Hopefully there will be no more ranting about anyone called Emmanuel today! Now. I know Eboue deserved his FA charge, but I hate to see people get done by them, 'cos I don't like them. Can we justify the replacement of Trident by nuking 25 Soho Square, please?

Believe it or not we saw it all on TV the same day! It all supports a recent blog of mine about sportsmanship or lack of it.

  I don't think this is really about sportsmanship. It was the first fight I've seen at a football match all season - believe me, they used to be all the time. This is about lack of accountability for officials, and the FA's desperation to look like they know what they're doing, whether they do or not. There is a culture of the FA and officials being "above the law". Players bear the brunt of this.

This is Diving/Cheating FC getting their come-uppance. It will give Arsene Whinger more excuse to whine to the papers.
If the Arsenal players and management continue to cheat at every opportunity and feign injury they will always wind up the opposition and it will cause problems. I am aware that other players and teams are also at fault but Whingers boys have taken it to an art form, closely matched I have to say by Chelski. The two coming together? Hey ho and away they go.

    I am talking about the team as a group not as individuals. The Arsenal physio spends more time on the park than most of the players as they feign injury so much. As for players diving, you see less leaves flying through the air and hitting the floor in a forest in autumn than Arsenal on a Saturday afternoon. I would say that their reputation cost them a penalty when Adialiere or whatever his name was dramatically threw himself on the floor against Blackburn when he had been fouled by the goalie. If he had just gone over like a grown man rather than a shot ballerina he would probably have got the penalty.

        Diaby got injured AFTER Terry (well, at the same time, but he understandably didn't notice), so a busy 10 minutes for Gary Lewin, but he didn't have anything to deal with until then.
        
        Irony of ironies: Diaby will probably be out longer than Terry!

        I meant with the rest of your injured crowd. Surely they should spend every spare second of their days trying to mend all your good (and injured) players. So maybe you don't loose in future. *shrug*
        
        Anyway, if I were there, I'd fix it all in a split-second, with the Sonic Screwdriver I had bought from the Exhibition just a few minutes before that happened.

        You need a Tardis, then you could have got there in time. Hopefully most people are getting mended now. Diaby is back with us. Oh did I drool over his performance on Saturday, as he came on as sub. "Remind you of anyone?", I said, grinning, to the bloke next to me. "Just a bit", he did reply.

      I'm sorry, I just don't see Arsenal players feigning injury. The reason we've had our physio on a lot lately is because Rosicky, Henry, Justin Hoyte, Diaby, Eboue, Flamini and van Persie are all injured. Freddie, Gallas and Clichy have just returned from injury. You don't often see Arsenal players go down, play dead for a while, then get up and run off like you do with some teams: in fact you often see them try to carry on, then have to go off.
      
      I agree with the Aliadiere point though. You could say the same for Heskey against us. Freddie was annoying me yesterday by diving as well.

  Agree with Ros. I think Wenger was right to point out that Arsenal have won the Fair Play league twice in recent years, and are currently the team who commits the least number of fouls, and is fouled against the most.
  
  Arsenal are not perfect, but why are we always the team who gets "made an example of"? When both Arsenal and Man Utd players disgraced themselves in the Battle of Old Trafford in September 2003, players who were found guilty on the same charges were given different punishments. Arsenal's were harsher. That's simply wrong.
  
  I most certainly think we dive LESS than possibly all other teams. We've sold Ashley Cole and Pires: Freddie and van Persie are sometimes guilty, but that's about it.
  
  I know Wenger is sometimes too quick to stick his oar in, but there's a culture of this: the managers of all the big clubs, and some of the little ones (Jol, Warnock) do the same.
  
  EDIT: As a fairly objective season ticket holder, I can't think of a single example of an Arsenal player feigning injury, and that's in spite of always putting the ball out when other teams (notably Spurs) do it.

    Sorry Vieira. You seem to accept that football in the Premiership has deteriorated into a slanging match and overpaid footballers cheating each other the fans and themselves. Not going to go into individual notorious fallers to the floor as it doesnt really matter. Where on earth do you get the Battle Of Old Trafford from? It was a football match for heavens sake. So the only two really disgusting fights seen recently have both involved Arsenal. You, as a football fan, are being presented with a game that is becoming more sterile and dishonest as every season passes and you accept it nay defend it because your team is involved.
    Why did you mention small teams and refer to Spurs and Sheffield United. They are not small teams. My team Lincoln City is a small team. Premiership football is going to the dogs and certain teams are the first into the kennel. Arsenal are one of them. And all for what £35 and more a time to watch them. Scandalous.

    Maybe I can hit you both by parking my Tardis on top of Ros's car whilst your out driving. Even if you Regenerate, I'll continue travelling back in time, parking my Tardis next to it's past self and on top of you as you crawl out from underneath it. You only have 12 regenerations.

Oh and by the wa thanks for the God Bless. Nice to see a young person say that. Not that I am particularly religious. Nothing personal in this it is just that I hate to see the game that I have played and followed for 40 years descend into such farce. I reckon most Premiership footballers think that tackle is what you fish with.

    Oh yes, I now get what you mean about Sunscreen. It took me a while. Fantasizing that children respected their elders, et al. Nick Hornby also makes this point from a footballing point of view in Fever Pitch - about people fighting in the Charity Shield, dirty Leeds, et al.

  Thanks. I agree and disagree with you on various points. I too wish the game was allowed to be more physical. I don't think Arsenal are part of the problem but that's my personal opinion. As a socialist, I sometimes feel guilty and think I should run off and support AFC Wimbledon, but my heart doesn't allow that.

There is only one Answer: We are Arsenal, the FA have never needed another reason. People say Arsenal fans are paranoid, try being one for 5 mins and not be. Official bodies through out history have always picked certain groups to make examples of, and unfortuneatly for Arsenal the FA have picked us as there totem to their ideal world, or at least an excuse they can point to everytime someones says they are not dealing with situations in the game.
