Well, another busy weekend. Another Monday catching up in blogland. Hi everybody!
It could have been a lot worse. We could have lost. Seriously, can we score first at Emirates sometime, please? And apparently we had 10 shots, 5 on target, in the first half. Boro had 1 chance and scored. This season is frustrating. Man Utd away next week. Oh joy, but I've a funny feeling we might get a result up there and turn it round. I found out at work today that Jamie is a Man Utd fan. He said he was so confident about next weekend that he'd started to worry, because it would just be typical if in their apparently easiest match against Arsenal ever, they lost! I hope they do!![]()
Afterwards, we release some frustration
Ray and I met with Dani and her friends Nadi and Ulli, from Germany. We had dinner in a lovely Italian restaurant, Il Bacio, around the corner from Highbury, where I had a nice main and seriously rich dessert while watching Livorno lose
Darn! Then we went around the corner to the famous marble halls.
Dani got a Chelsea shirt out of her bag. We had to go and buy a lighter from Highbury Wine. I had a table napkin from the restaurant. Kindling...
Once Dani got the flaming napkin on it, it went up quite quickly! Ulli (I think it was Ulli... I got their names mixed up!!) took pictures, which will be despatched here when I have them
Some Arsenal and Middlesbrough fans walked past and congratulated us. We left the tiny, chargrilled strip of material which remained, and went our separate ways![]()
Sorting my head out spiritually
On Sunday, I went to church, where I ended up sobbing my eyes out, but it was good. I needed to. I talked some issues out with my mum afterwards, and ended up telling God basically that I couldn't cope and was feeling awful... It's been building for a few weeks. I just feel sort of hopeless and manage to get negativity out of everything. I think He was telling me to just relax and let go. I've given everything to Him - I hope things will start to improve from now on. I did feel very much at peace after that, which was lovely, 'cos I think I spend too much time striving to be perfect and picking on myself for silly mistakes. Damn achievementism... I then had a restful Sunday, chatting online for several hours, then went to the pub with my parents.
(But slightly before that...)
I bent down to turn the comp off, and managed to headbutt the sideboard!
I had a dream...
That Zizou came out of retirement and signed for Arsenal! And I think he scored a goal in another CL final (2007, it must be)... but we went 1-0 up (he scored) and then were 2-1 down... then 4-1... but pulled it back to 4-3 in the third minute of injury time (Rosicky scored)...
Then the transmission cut out... then the commentators said they weren't going to bother showing any more and in the corner of the screen it said 4-4! But somehow I felt that this was a mistake and we'd lost! Then I dreamed afterwards about ZZ signing and I sort of retrospectively thought he'd scored the first goal. And there were posters of him in French kit which I took![]()
My first dream about Zizou! YAAAAY!![]()

Monday - Work
I gave Winnie a print out of Safriz' entry about Zizou, as she doesn't have email. She read it at break and laughed
It then got passed around Patsy, Margaret and James, who all laughed.
My "Thought for the Day" was: has Zidane ever been headbutted? It must have happened once in 18 years of playing football, surely?
I told James I was interested in what ZZ will do next. James said he'll go on the talking circuit. It occurred to me as I walked away that ZZ is actually pretty shy and is there such a thing as a headbutting circuit?
But I never got to say such things to James, 'cos he went home on time. I meanwhile stayed till 12.30, which is at least extra money, but I don't think I'll be doing it every day. I like to help out, but I don't wanna get too tired.
"Look At Me" by Geri Halliwell came on ASDA FM, and I told everybody that Cazza and I wrote a parody of it in 1998 or 99, because Geri Halliwell sounded like Franck Lebouef! Sam didn't ask what a Lebouef was - he said "Oh, I know who he is! He's a football player!" Good![]()
The week ahead
Ray is going to Germany tomorrow for the Arsenal match. My gran is coming here for a few days - my grandad is in respite care.
I have to find a pub to watch the Arsenal match in on Weds, one with posh pay-per-view Sky who won't just take the easy way out and show Man United! I think another trip to the Monks Brook might be in order, and I'll have to video Ian Wright's show![]()
I'm about to print another copy of Safriz' entry for Mum to take to work! Winnie said her son (I think that's who she was talking about... she just said "he" and she goes there on Mondays) will take it to work to show his mates, and I dropped a copy through the Warners' (our neighbours) door on Sunday! It's going to take over the world, so cheers, Safriz!![]()
Anyway, I'm going to go now cos I've been doing this an hour longer than I wanted to, and I wanna phone my sister. So, until next time, have a GREAT time and God bless!
